Stay informed about API documentation changes, new features, and updates with our automatic notification system.
Our documentation site includes a changelog notification widget that automatically alerts you to new updates.
- 🔴 Notification Badge: A red badge appears in the bottom-right corner showing the number of unread changelog entries
- 📋 Quick Preview: Click the badge to see a popup panel with recent changes
- ✅ Mark as Read: Click "Mark all as read" to clear the notification count
- 🔄 Automatic Updates: The widget checks for new entries each time you visit the site
The changelog notification system operates entirely in your browser using local storage.
What this means:
- ✅ No personal data collected: We do not store any information about you or your viewing habits
- ✅ No tracking: Creditsafe does not track who reads the changelog or when
- ✅ GDPR compliant: All data stays on your device - we never receive notification data
- ✅ Browser-specific: Your notification history is stored locally and not shared between browsers or devices
Technical Details:
- The widget stores only the IDs of changelog entries you've already seen
- This data is saved in your browser's
localStorage(client-side storage) - No information is transmitted to Creditsafe servers
- Clearing your browser data will reset your notification count
The notification system uses minimal browser storage - typically less than 1 KB (kilobyte) of data.
What's stored:
- Entry IDs you've already seen (e.g., "2026-01-15-new-endpoint")
- Timestamp of when you last checked
- Simple text data only - no images, cookies, or tracking pixels
Context:
- 1 KB = approximately 1,000 characters of text
- Your browser typically allows 5-10 MB of localStorage per site
- The changelog widget uses less than 0.02% of available storage
- Even tracking 100+ changelog entries would use less than 2 KB
This ensures the notification system has virtually no impact on your browser's performance or storage capacity.
When you first visit the documentation site, the widget will show all recent changelog entries as "unread."
- Look for the red notification badge in the bottom-right corner
- Click the badge to open the changelog popup
- Scroll through the list of updates
- Click any entry title to jump directly to the full changelog
- Mark as Read: Click "Mark all as read" to clear the notification count
- View Full Changelog: Click "View Full Changelog" to see the complete history
- Close Panel: Click anywhere outside the popup or press the X button
Since notification history is stored locally in each browser:
- You'll see unread notifications separately on each browser or device
- This ensures you don't miss updates when switching between devices
A: This happens when:
- You're visiting the site for the first time
- You cleared your browser data (cookies, cache, local storage)
- You're using a different browser or device
Simply click "Mark all as read" to clear them.
A: The widget checks for new entries each time you visit the documentation. It compares the latest changelog against your local notification history to show you what's new since your last visit.
A: Yes. You can now disable the notification badge directly from the changelog popup:
- Open the changelog panel by clicking the badge.
- Click the "Disable Notifications" button at the bottom of the popup.
- The widget will disappear and you will no longer receive changelog notifications.
To re-enable notifications:
- Clear your browser’s local storage for this site (usually found in your browser’s privacy or developer tools settings).
Disabling is browser-specific. If you use multiple browsers or devices, you’ll need to disable notifications separately on each one.
A: No. The widget operates entirely client-side using localStorage. Creditsafe does not receive any information about your notification history, viewing patterns, or personal data.
A: Clearing your browser's local storage will reset your notification history. The next time you visit, the widget will show all recent entries as unread again. This is by design to ensure you don't miss important updates.
If you prefer not to use the notification widget, you can always:
- Bookmark the changelog page: https://doc.creditsafe.com/connect-apis-catalog/changelog
- Check manually: Visit the page periodically to see the latest updates
- Subscribe via browser bookmark: Add the changelog to your browser favorites for quick access
If you experience issues with the notification widget or have questions about the changelog:
- Documentation Feedback: Use the feedback form on any documentation page
